Its common name derives from its round head covered with short hairs, giving it the appearance of a medieval friar. That’s where I saw this one, in a garden near Poipu Beach. He was feasting on insects and didn’t mind me photographing him. They can change color in a matter of seconds and have been inaccurately called the “Chameleon” of North America. In this shot he is perched on a White Orchid waiting for the next morsel to fly by.
