Double Rainbow 9/4/20111279 viewsA high pressure system over the four corners area combined with a low pressure system off the southern california coast steered subtropical moisture into Southern California this evening. This provided Altadena residents with rare summer showers and a thunderstorm this evening.

This double Rainbow was seen at Sunset.

The Lowe Fire961 viewsThe WeatherCam caught several good images of the Lowe Fire (named for nearby Mt. Lowe). Quick work from the Angeles National Forest Fire Crews along with Los Angeles County resources kept the fire to around 12 acres with no structures lost.
In this image a Water Dropping Helicopter approaches to make a drop.

Kansas City Thunderstorm856 viewsI was visiting Kansas City, MO and I was staying in the Downtown Marriott Hotel. A nice Thunderstorm was passing through and I was watching it out my window on the 14th Floor. I got to see several good lightning strikes and was able to capture this one with my camera. Taken with my Canon 5D, 30 second exposure @ f14, ISO 100.

Taurid Meteor816 viewsTaurid Meteor shower. The Taurids are linked to debris from comet 2P/Enke, and roughly every 3 years there is an outburst as Earths orbit intersects the debris cloud. They appear to eminate from the Constellation Tauris. They can be very bright.

Geminids #2751 viewsAs mentioned in the earlier photo, I had the WebCam set up to capture an image every minute. This is the second Geminid Meteor I captured. This one was in the early morning hours and the radiant had risen high in the sky and the metoer is going almost straight down in the middle of the image.
