Building A Burm2450 viewsBuilding A Burm taken 12/30/05
Several storms out in the Pacific were beginning to affect Northern California with heavy rain. These same storms were causing heavy surf all along the coast. A large west-northwest swell continued to affect the outer coastal waters of Southern California today. Breakers of 8 to 12 feet, with locally higher sets, pounded the coastline. In thid photo, Los Angeles City Fire Dept Bulldozers build a burm of sand to protect the businesses and residences along Venice Beach.

Me And My Shadow2469 views5/27/05
Taken from about 22,000 feet, flying from Oakland to Burbank, I saw this lone cloud above the Frazier Park area Northwest of Los Angeles. The shadow from the cloud can be seen on the ground below. I had someone tell me the cloud looked like a buffalo lying on it s side.

This was taken at the end of the Kagel Canyon Truck Trail in the Angeles National Forest above the San Fernando Valley. It was sort of an overcast day but at approximately 3550 Above Sea Level we were above the haze. This was the view looking West toward Oat Mountain.

A fast moving cold front moved through Los Angeles today bringing about .24" of rain and a high temperature of only 55 degrees at my station in Altadena. Light snow was reported at Mt. Wilson. This photo is looking West from Altadena at the La Crescenta area above Glendale. A break in the clouds let the rays of sunshine through. A beautiful day.

A great thunderstorm was blowing through my town. I went into the backyard and started taking time exposures with my Olympus Digital Camera. I was lucky to capture this nice bolt.

Kansas City Thunderstorm3102 viewsI was visiting Kansas City, MO and I was staying in the Downtown Marriott Hotel. A nice Thunderstorm was passing through and I was watching it out my window on the 14th Floor. I got to see several good lightning strikes and was able to capture this one with my camera. Taken with my Canon 5D, 30 second exposure @ f14, ISO 100.

All Together Now2307 viewsTaken 1/23/06
Strong winds buffeted Southern California last night and this morning causing wide spread damage. Fallen trees, downed power lines, etc. Sustained winds at my station were 30 mph with gusts as high as 42 mph. Combined with extremely low humidity, these conditions have prompted a Red Flag Fire Alert. These palm trees were all leaning to the South as the winds roared out of the North.

The Crawling Eye2313 viewsDoes anybody remember the old movie "The Crawling Eye" ? Or did I just embarrass myself ? The fog here is rolling over the Verdugo Hills and into the La Canada / La Crescenta Valley. It looks as though it is heading straight towards Jet Propulsion Laboratory located in the lower right of the photo.
