This photo taken along the Union Pacific Tracks by the Arroyo Las Posas in Somis, CA. After 5 days of heavy rain (14.38 inches at my station in Altadena) this river undermined the tracks and left them hanging high and dry. Unfortunately it took Fiber Optic Cables with it. AT&T, MCI, Sprint and Level 2 all experienced outages related to this slide.

Moon Passing118 viewsI was up at the crack of dawn 2/22/06 to get a few shots of the Sunrise over the Sea Of Cortez. The Last Quarter Moon was setting as the sky was beginning to brighten. I heard a jet high overhead and turned just in time to catch this shot of the jet and it's contrail passing the Moon. Taken with a Canon Digital Rebel using a 100-300 Zoom Lens. ISO 400, 1/640 second at f8.0

Havasu Lightning404 viewsI captured this lightning using my first Digital Camera, an Olympus C-5050Z. I had it in "Manual" mode set for the maximum exposure of 16 seconds. I took quite a few exposures this way during the lightning storm.
