466 viewsThe 2008 Summer Olympics Games, and our coverage, was a huge success thanks to the hard work of everyone involved. The Olympics concluded with a magnificent Closing Ceremony and Fireworks seen around the World thanks to us.
Of course this is NOT a skyrocket from China! A passing airplane added the effect to this long one minute exposure.

On The Wrong Track266 viewsTaken 1/11/05
This photo taken along the Union Pacific Tracks by the Arroyo Las Posas in Somis, CA. After 5 days of heavy rain (14.38 inches at my station in Altadena) this river undermined the tracks and left them hanging high and dry. Unfortunately it took Fiber Optic Cables with it. AT&T, MCI, Sprint and Level 2 all experienced outages related to this slide.

Shoot The Moon335 viewsThe final piece of Boeing's new generation of Delta IV Rocket Fleet lifted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base on June 27, 2006. The Delta IV M (Medium Plus) left the pad at 20:33 hrs Pacific Daylight Time and rose into the colorful twilight accented by the thin Waxing crescent Moon. What you see is the vapor trail left over from the Liquid Rocket Motor.
