Taurid Meteor1176 viewsTaurid Meteor shower. The Taurids are linked to debris from comet 2P/Enke, and roughly every 3 years there is an outburst as Earths orbit intersects the debris cloud. They appear to eminate from the Constellation Tauris. They can be very bright.

http://www.collingsfoundation.org/menu.htm and she was in pretty nice shape. I beleive this is a B-17G model. The Collings Foundation is a Non-Profit Group so the cost of our ride was Tax Deductible. This was a Birthday Present for My Father-In-Law. Of course I HAD to go along. We flew out of the Burbank Airport.

Rail Bed550 viewsThe old Tonapah and Tidewater railroad used to run through this canyon, from Baker, CA to Tonapah, NV. This is the Rail Bed raised above the floor of the Amargosa River and in the distance sliced through a ridge. The Railroad was in operation between 1905 and 1940.

Waipi'o Valley359 viewsTaken 4/2/06
Located on the Northeast side of the Big Island of Hawai’i, the Waipi’o Valley is a plush green area of the island that receives annual rainfall of over 200 inches per year. Access to the Valley Floor was over an exciting 4WD Road with a 25% Grade that drops almost 1000 feet in about a mile. It was well worth renting the Jeep Cherokee at the airport. Once at the bottom you are treated to a beautiful mile long Black Sand Beach.

I believe this is a Yellow Canary. No fancy names. At any rate, he has survived the wrath of the Mongoose on Hawai'i. I really enjoyed all the different animals and birds that I saw on this trip. The warm weather wasn’t bad either.

Moon Passing412 viewsI was up at the crack of dawn 2/22/06 to get a few shots of the Sunrise over the Sea Of Cortez. The Last Quarter Moon was setting as the sky was beginning to brighten. I heard a jet high overhead and turned just in time to catch this shot of the jet and it's contrail passing the Moon. Taken with a Canon Digital Rebel using a 100-300 Zoom Lens. ISO 400, 1/640 second at f8.0

Airplane2023 viewsThe long exposures on the WeatherCam at night (sometimes as much as 16 seconds) makes for some interesting effects. Here, a plane passes by. The lights make a streak and the dots along the line are the blinking lights on the plane.
