DC-101257 viewsThe McDonnell Douglas DC-10 is classified as a "Very Large Air Tanker" by Cal-Fire. Ya think !

Originally delivered as a civil passenger plane, the DC-10 can carry a whopping 12,000 Gallons of Fire Retardant. It can drop it's load in 8 seconds in a line 300 feet wide and one mile long!

The Lowe Fire2269 viewsThe WeatherCam caught several good images of the Lowe Fire (named for nearby Mt. Lowe). Quick work from the Angeles National Forest Fire Crews along with Los Angeles County resources kept the fire to around 12 acres with no structures lost.
In this image a Water Dropping Helicopter approaches to make a drop.

Moon Passing1008 viewsI was up at the crack of dawn 2/22/06 to get a few shots of the Sunrise over the Sea Of Cortez. The Last Quarter Moon was setting as the sky was beginning to brighten. I heard a jet high overhead and turned just in time to catch this shot of the jet and it's contrail passing the Moon. Taken with a Canon Digital Rebel using a 100-300 Zoom Lens. ISO 400, 1/640 second at f8.0

Anole1038 viewsI believe this is an Anole also but has changed colors to blend in with the lava that he is perched on. This Anole is extending his Dewlap, a type of cartilage that extends from neck & throat area.
