Cumulonimbus310 viewsI was flying back from Boston and got a chance to see some spectacular weather from the air. We were heading West over Arizona and the hot afternoon Sun was creating some beautiful Cumulonimbus clouds. We were flying at approximately 32,000 Feet and the Thermal Convection was driving these clouds well above us. Taken July 23, 2007. (9 votes)

Building A Burm314 viewsBuilding A Burm taken 12/30/05
Several storms out in the Pacific were beginning to affect Northern California with heavy rain. These same storms were causing heavy surf all along the coast. A large west-northwest swell continued to affect the outer coastal waters of Southern California today. Breakers of 8 to 12 feet, with locally higher sets, pounded the coastline. In thid photo, Los Angeles City Fire Dept Bulldozers build a burm of sand to protect the businesses and residences along Venice Beach.
