Pyrocumulus2642 viewsWhile I'm not sure this word exists in a Dictionary, it is used commonly used when talking about fires or volcanic eruptions. It is caused by the hot air and smoke combining with the moisture which induces a convection which carries the smoke and ash up to altitudes of 20,000 feet or more.

Lancer2642 viewsTaken 1/4/05
The B-1B Lancer Strategic Bomber makes a High Speed Low-Level Fly-By over the Rose Bowl in Pasadena at the beginning of the USC vs Texas Championship Game. I wish it could have been a bit sharper but it was getting dark and I had the camera pushed to 1600 ISO using a 100-300mm Zoom. Exposure was 1/40th sec @ f5.6

Thank You2639 viewsSigns of appreciation, like this one at the top of Lake Avenue, were popping up all over the place. Whether it was here at the entrance to the Sam Merrill Trail, or on someone's wall or fence, homemade signs thanking the Firefighters and First Responders were visible everywhere.

Na Pali Coast2631 viewsThis fifteen-mile stretch of rugged coastline on the northwest shore of Kauai literally means "the Cliffs." Much of Na Pali Coast is inaccessible due to its characteristic sheer cliffs that drop straight down, thousands of feet into the ocean.

Nice contrast of the white seagull against the clear blue sky of Baja California. The seagulls were looking for a handout.

Altadena Sunset2628 viewsThis was taken 12/11/05 at about 2000 ft elev from a street above my house.
