Red Flag Sunrise2607 viewsTaken 2/7/06
Another Red Flag Warning for Southern California. Gusty Winds and extreme Low Humidity prompted another day of Red Flag Fire Danger. This beautiful Sunrise, looking East from Downtown Los Angeles is unfortunately made more dramatic with smoke in the air from a fire burning out of control in the Cleveland National Forest. Over 3500 Acres have burned with some progress being made this morning. Fortunately there have not been any injuries or homes lost at this point in time.

Lowe Fire 12603 viewsA small brush fire in Altadena, CA, 8/26/07, was brought under control quickly by Angeles National Forest and Los Angeles County Fire Crews. Due to the rough terrain, the fire was fought primarily from the air with the support of Camp Crews. In this photo, one of the new BlackHawk Helicopters used by Los Angeles County Fire snorkels water from a "Pumpkin" set up at a nearby Helispot. The BlackHawks can carry 1,000 Gallons compared to 300 carried by older Helicopters.

Lunar Eclipse August 28, 20072593 viewsThe Moon is just beginning to emerge from the Umbra. The red glow of the eclipsed Moon can be seen as usual but I was also looking for the "Turquoise" that I had been reading about lately.
I saw it in person. It was beautiful.
I had a hard time focusing though (as you can tell).

Lady Bugs2591 viewsThis photo, as well as the other Lady Bug photo was taken at the 8000 ft level of Mount Waterman in the San Gabriel Mountains. I was surprised to see so many in one place at one time. Looks like they're enjoying themselves.
