Anole2477 viewsI believe this is an Anole also but has changed colors to blend in with the lava that he is perched on. This Anole is extending his Dewlap, a type of cartilage that extends from neck & throat area.

Hummer2473 viewsPhot taken 10/8/05 in my front yard. The Mexicam Sage attracts quite a few Humming Birds. This year (2006) we had as many as 8-10 at a time fighting over the bush's beautiful purple blooms.

Mauna Kea2473 viewsTaken Kea 4/6/06
There are currently thirteen working telescopes near the summit of Mauna Kea. They include the largest optical/infrared telescopes in the world (the Keck telescopes), the largest dedicated infrared telescope (UKIRT) and the largest submillimeter telescope in the world (the JCMT). In this photo taken near the 13,796 Foot Summit you can see (from left to right) the Subaru Telescope, the 2 W.M. Keck Telescopes and the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility.

K-Max2450 viewsThe Karman "K-Max" Type 1 Heavy Lift Helicopter. Called the "Air Tractor", I call this the Gooney Bird because it looks and sounds funny. It has two opposing rotors on top and no tail rotor. It can carry 700 Gallons of water.

Thank You2437 viewsSigns of appreciation, like this one at the top of Lake Avenue, were popping up all over the place. Whether it was here at the entrance to the Sam Merrill Trail, or on someone's wall or fence, homemade signs thanking the Firefighters and First Responders were visible everywhere.
