Gold Dust Gecko2376 viewsThe Gold Dust Day Gecko is a very colorful lizard that averages 4 to 5 inches in length. It's body is mostly bright green but you can see specks of gold color along it's back. The top of the eye is bright powder blue. This little guy was hanging out at our hotel in Keauhou. He was very friendly and let me get close enough for this picture. (7 votes)

Bob Westphal2751 viewsThis is the photo I was trying to recreate. As you can see i didn't get it exactly right. This is my Dad in front of a B-17 in Europe.
Thanks to the wealth of information available on the Internet, I found out that "WALLAROO" was part of the 303rd Bomber Group and flew 35 Combat Missions before being shot down Jan 14, 1944.
Glad my Dad wasn't on it. (10 votes)

Geminids 12-13-062379 viewsI had the WebCam set up to capture an image every minute in an attempt to catch a meteor. This was in the evening and the radiant was still near the Eastern horizon. The meteor can be seen in the upper left quadrant of the photo. It's trajectory is near horizontal to the horizon.
These images also appear in the WeatherCam Favorites section.

A Bad Day Fishing2416 viewsThey say a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. The local fishermen have returned from their morning catch. Probably a good time to go get some Fish Taco's. (10 votes)

Lowe Fire 12358 viewsA small brush fire in Altadena, CA, 8/26/07, was brought under control quickly by Angeles National Forest and Los Angeles County Fire Crews. Due to the rough terrain, the fire was fought primarily from the air with the support of Camp Crews. In this photo, one of the new BlackHawk Helicopters used by Los Angeles County Fire snorkels water from a "Pumpkin" set up at a nearby Helispot. The BlackHawks can carry 1,000 Gallons compared to 300 carried by older Helicopters.
