Green Anole 12238 viewsThis species is native to North America, where it is found mainly in the southeastern parts of the continent. But, the species has been introduced into Hawaii. That’s where I saw this one, in a garden near Poipu Beach. He was feasting on insects and didn’t mind me photographing him. They can change color in a matter of seconds and have been inaccurately called the “Chameleon” of North America. In this shot he is perched on a White Orchid waiting for the next morsel to fly by. Lowe Fire 12212 viewsA small brush fire in Altadena, CA, 8/26/07, was brought under control quickly by Angeles National Forest and Los Angeles County Fire Crews. Due to the rough terrain, the fire was fought primarily from the air with the support of Camp Crews. In this photo, one of the new BlackHawk Helicopters used by Los Angeles County Fire snorkels water from a "Pumpkin" set up at a nearby Helispot. The BlackHawks can carry 1,000 Gallons compared to 300 carried by older Helicopters.
