L.A. Moonset2223 viewsTaken 6/13/06
Cooler temperatures aloft and lack of a Coastal Eddy prohibited formation of the Marine Layer last night. Warmer temperatures and clear skies are forecast for the rest of the week. This is a welcome change from our traditional “June Gloom” here in Los Angeles. This shot was taken at 6:15 a.m. from approximately 2.5 miles Northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. Manhattan Beach Pier2805 viewsTaken 12/20/05
Several storms out in the Pacific were beginning to affect Northern California with heavy rain. These same storms were causing heavy surf all along the coast. A large west-northwest swell continued to affect the outer coastal waters of Southern California today. Breakers of 8 to 12 feet, with locally higher sets, pounded the coastline. Here you see the waves crashing against the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier (18 votes)

Is That You Woody ?2244 viewsA rare sight in my neck of the woods, this Woodpecker was enjoying the warm Autumn Afternoon in the White Birch Tree in my front yard. Partly cloudy skies and a high of 70.9 degrees at my Weather Station in Altadena, CA made for a wonderful day. (11 votes)

Green Anole 12389 viewsThis species is native to North America, where it is found mainly in the southeastern parts of the continent. But, the species has been introduced into Hawaii. That’s where I saw this one, in a garden near Poipu Beach. He was feasting on insects and didn’t mind me photographing him. They can change color in a matter of seconds and have been inaccurately called the “Chameleon” of North America. In this shot he is perched on a White Orchid waiting for the next morsel to fly by. Wood Fairies2503 viewsTaken 11/12/06
Have you ever heard stories about the Wood Fairies? It has to do with Fairies escaping from the wood burned in campfires. I’m not sure where the story originated but apparently its true. Can you see them in the photo leaving the fire?
